Daylight Savings Time Ends This Weekend….change your batteries

It’s that time again, for most of us in the US, daylight savings time (DST) will end at 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 2nd, 2014.

Most US clocks will spring forward again in early 2015, when DST resumes on Sunday, March 8th. Do we really need this and does it save on energy?   The debate is still on and now that the end of this year on DST is almost here it has ramped up again. Seems like most want to just pick one and stick with it, there doesn’t seem to be much savings as the temperatures drive energy use more than an extra hour of daylight would save. Since DST is not mandated by the federal government there are some states that don’t observe it.

And don’t forget, when you set you clocks back now is the time to change the batteries and test your smoke alarms!

A properly installed and tested home fire alarm with a fresh battery is one of the simplest and most effective things you can do to protect yourself and your family from a home fire.

What do you think about DST, do we need it?  Please leave a comment.
